Fellow criteria

The ENCORE Fellows Network consists of highly qualified researchers in the field of competition and regulation. In order to become an ENCORE-fellow, a candidate has to meet certain criteria.

A prospective fellow will be awarded points for articles published in international academic journals during the preceding five years (see the list of admissible journals below).

Points will also be awarded for books or book chapters published by internationally well-established academic publishers, such as Oxford University Press, Cambridge University Press and MIT Press.

Points formula

Points = # pages / (# authors + 1)

A candidate with a score of 20 points at least will be eligible to become an ENCORE-fellow.

In addition, the candidate should be active in the field of competition and regulation. Accordingly, prospective candidates are invited only by the directors of ENCORE. Yet, existing fellows are invited to suggest other prospective fellows.

Younger/older candidates

  • Candidates under 35 will be eligible to become a junior Fellow by scoring 10 points or more.
  • For candidates over 55, publications during the previous 8 (rather than 5) years will be used when calculating the points.

Fellowship will be terminated if a fellow no longer fulfils the criteria.
