Associates
In 2006 ENCORE started a new network to form the meeting bank for the platform’s bridge function: the ENCORE Associates Network. Associates are those who are involved in developing policy in the field of competition and regulation at a level in government where there are particular benefits from interaction with the ENCORE Fellows Network. ENCORE organizes regular meetings between members of the ENCORE Associates Network and the ENCORE Fellow Network. During these meetings exchange of current research and current policy are the main topics. Literally bringing together specialized researchers and policy makers expresses ENCORE’s bridging function.
A first meeting was held in Hotel the Grand, Amsterdam on December 8th 2006, where associates and fellows met through ‘speed-dating’ (link).
The ENCORE steering group – formed by directors of ENCORE’s sponsors in Dutch government – nominated a first group of associates with whom to initiate the network, which the ENCORE management board subsequently invited into the network. In the future, new associates will be invited into the ENCORE Associates Network through a nomination process. Upon a sufficiently supported nomination by minimally two existing associates to the ENCORE management board, ENCORE will invite new appointees by final decision.
